There is more being made today than ever before. Almost none of it will last.
KANASI is the opposite. Our taste runs toward the quiet, the crafted, the considered. We travel far, to remote villages, to the makers themselves and bring back a very limited collection.
Found slowly. Carried carefully. Finite by design.
The craftsperson is not just a worker; they are the carrier of tradition, the interpreter of heritage.

Artist In Focus

The Master of Bagru: Dr. Lal Chand Chhipa Derawala
Dr Lal Chand does not have time for pleasantries. For over forty years, his focus has remained fixed on the wooden block and the chemistry of natural dyes. A National Award-winning master, he is a man of clinical precision who views the commercial side of the industry as a distraction from the work. He has famously admitted a distaste for dealing with buyers; for him, the fabric is not a "product" it is art.
At Kanasi, we don't ask him to compromise. We simply provide the canvas for his Bagru and Dabu techniques, methods that rely on the rhythm of his hands and the earth of Rajasthan. He is a self-trained craftsman who has spent a lifetime proving that true mastery requires no explanation.
"Every block I carve, every print I press carries the rhythm of tradition and the heartbeat of my land."
